You can use a USB extension cable but, in our experience, these can cause some problems with reliability and we wouldn't advise it unless you have no other choice. If you're using a laptop this won't usually be a problem, but if you have a desktop then consider this when choosing a calibration location. Your camera will also need to be close enough to your computer to be able to plug in the USB cable.
